Welcome to Shibuya Miyashita Park
Hello! I’m Tokyo Mate, documenting travels through Tokyo. ✈️
Shibuya’s old park transformed into a hip shopping complex, hotel, and bar district—that’s Miyashita Park. It’s a must-see on every Tokyo itinerary these days, right?
But go in blind and you might end up frustrated by “high prices, small portions, and long waits.” Today I’m sharing the smart way to enjoy both daytime (park/shopping) and nighttime (yokocho/drinks), plus December-only events.

🎄 December Must-See! 2 Limited Events
If you’re reading this in December, you’re really lucky. The usually plain 4th floor rooftop and shopping mall have completely transformed.
1️⃣ Shibuya Christmas Market 2025🎄
- Dates: December 1 (Mon) ~ December 25 (Thu), 2025
- Location: Miyashita Park 4F Lawn Plaza
- Concept: European Christmas (Purple Theme 💜)
This year’s concept is ‘Purple’. Instead of typical red Christmas, dreamy purple lighting creates an absolutely incredible atmosphere.

2️⃣ Powerpuff Girls X Miyashita Park (Y2K Vibes)💖 The cute-lovers, this is for you. The entire Miyashita Park has been taken over by the Powerpuff Girls!
- Photo Zones: South 2F pedestrian bridge & North 2F central space
- Pop-up Store: South 2F (limited edition goods)
- Special Bonus: Purchase ¥7,500+ at participating stores to receive a ’limited compact mirror’ (first-come basis)
Photo zones are everywhere in the mall—make sure to capture those Y2K aesthetic shots!

☀️ Miyashita Park Restaurants & Activities (Daytime)
After checking out the events, it’s time to enjoy the 4F park and shopping mall during the day.
☕ Rooftop Park & Starbucks Miyashita Park’s signature 4F rooftop park features a Starbucks. It’s famous for the FRAGMENT collaboration cups designed by Hiroshi Fujiwara.
- Atmosphere: Coffee on a grassy lawn in the heart of the city
- Pro Tip: Weekends have almost no seating. Get takeout and sit on a bench for your sanity.

🍜 Can’t-Miss Miyashita Park Restaurants & Cafes (1~3F) Rather than the pricey yokocho, the 3F food court and casual restaurants on floors 1-2 offer great value and taste. Here are 5 local favorites that never disappoint.
1. Miyashita Naru (NORTH 3F ミヤシタ 成ル) Teppanyaki specialty izakaya. Set meals for lunch, teppan scrambled eggs with beer for dinner—perfectly lively spot.
2. Kinniku Shokudo (SOUTH 3F 筋肉食堂) The “Muscle Diner.” Need protein while traveling? Absolutely come here! Low-calorie, delicious, high-protein steaks and hamburg. (Dieters, highly recommended)

3. Café Kitsuné (NORTH 2F) Hip café run by Maison Kitsuné. Their signature ‘fox-shaped cookies’ are the norm—place them on lattes for proof shots.
4. KITH TREATS (NORTH 2F) Street brand KITH’s cereal ice cream bar. When you run out of energy while shopping, shakes or ice cream instantly recharge you.

5. THE MATCHA TOKYO (SOUTH 2F) 100% organic matcha specialist. If you want to taste authentic Japanese bitter, rich matcha lattes, I recommend here over Starbucks.

🌙 Shibuya Yokocho—Is It Worth It? (Nighttime)
When the sun sets, red lanterns light up the 1F ‘Shibuya Yokocho.’ This place gathers soul food from all over Japan—so what’s the real deal?
⚠️ Honest Review: “Atmosphere is 100 points, value is…” Honestly, this is a place you go for ‘photos’ rather than ’taste.’
💡 Tokyo Mate’s Strategy Recommendation “Just one beer at yokocho! Eat dinner outside!” Just one round! The atmosphere is too good, so order one draft beer (nama-biru) and just one simple snack (like gyoza)—enjoy only the vibe.
| Atmosphere | 🏮 Festive (matsuri)-like lively hip vibes → Photos come out amazing |
| Price | 💸 Quite expensive for small portions (tourist pricing) → Don't expect value |
| Taste | So-so. Strong feeling of reheated frozen products → Foodies might be disappointed |
| Extra Charges | Otoshi (table charge) and 1 drink minimum per person → Don't be shocked by the bill |

“So Where Are the Real Gems?” Recommended Alternatives
If Shibuya Yokocho’s value disappoints, move to real local bars within 3-5 minutes on foot. This is the real deal.
🍺 1. Nonbei Yokocho Right across from Miyashita Park, hidden between buildings—this is the ‘Drinkers’ Alley.’ Showa-era retro vibes remain intact—if you love midnight diner atmospheres, highly recommended.
- Features: Very narrow shops (4-5 seats), atmosphere of chatting with neighbors or the owner
- Value: Not cheap, but serves ‘real cooking’ unlike Shibuya Yokocho’s frozen food.
✅ Representative Restaurant: Torifuku (鳥福)
- Business hours: Weekdays 16:30~21:00
- 📍View on Google Maps 📍
📌 [Comparison] Nonbei Yokocho vs Shibuya Yokocho
| Nonbei Yokocho (Recommended) | Shibuya Yokocho |
| True retro street with 40+ bars in narrow alleys | Traditional concept food court on Miyashita Park 1F |
| Google Rating 4.1 (1,058) | Google Rating 3.0 (3,277) |

🍢 2. Shibuya Morimoto (渋谷森本) “If you want proper yakitori, go here.” One of Shibuya’s top yakitori spots, selected for Tabelog Yakitori Top 100 (2018, 2019, 2021)—a verified place.
- Business Hours: 16:00 ~ 22:00 (Closed Sundays)

🍢 3. Toritake Main Branch “In Shibuya, this place takes #1 for yakitori portion size and taste.” Legendary old shop selling charcoal-grilled jumbo skewers (大串) on a completely different level from yokocho’s frozen sticks. Also selected for Tabelog Yakitori Top 100 (2019, 2021).
