'Former Asakura House (旧朝倉家住宅)' is
an Important Cultural Property designated by the Japanese government
built in 1919 (Taisho 8).
As the residence of
'Torajiro Asakura,' former chairman of the Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly,
it preserves nearly perfectly
the appearance of a large Taisho-era mansion.

This place has two main attractions.
1. Main Building (A Symphony of Tatami Rooms)
The main building, where you remove your shoes to enter,
has nearly all rooms
covered in tatami.
Walking along the corridors,
you can admire each uniquely decorated room,
the architectural beauty of the Taisho era,
and the garden views.




2. Walking Garden
(Hidden Autumn Foliage Spot)
A beautiful Japanese garden
built utilizing the cliff terrain.
Stone lanterns and ponds are arranged throughout,

3 important tips to check before visiting!
1. Socks Required
(Barefoot Entry Prohibited ❌)
This is the most important precaution.
To protect this Important Cultural Property building,
you must remove your shoes to enter,
and barefoot entry is not allowed.
(Slippers are also prohibited!)
If you're wearing sandals in summer,
be sure to bring socks!
2. Admission Fee (Paid)
General: 100 yen (approx. $1)
Elementary/Junior High Students: 50 yen (approx. $0.50)
(※ Free for ages 60+)
3. No Parking
(Use Public Transportation)
There is no dedicated parking lot.
It's only a 5-minute walk from 'Daikanyama Station,'
so please use convenient public transportation.
